Autographs and Certificates

In the first 20 years of its existence, UB Mainz acquired a small number of autographs, often in closed volumes. As this practice had not been pursued systematically since the 1960s, the total stock of autographs remained small. The Mainz University Library owes its small collection of documents to the testamentary donation of a collection of Moguntines, which was donated by the former head of the Mainz Department of Culture and patron of the university, Dr. h.c. Michel Oppenheim, had collected. Within the autographs, the Clemens Brentano Collection forms a special stock, which is presented as an independent collection within Gutenberg Capture due to its special significance.
